Teaching at the US Air Force Academy has given me a unique perspective on social psychology. All of my students will become lieutenants in the Air Force and very few will become social psychologists. Thus, I have focused my areas of research on applying social psychology, primarily in the areas of ethical behavior, pedagogy, and leadership, as well as investigating diversity and social justice. The repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was a specific area affected by a mix of scientific research, affect management, and ongoing discussion. The issues regarding Trans service was similarly informed by science... although the current administration has chosen to follow a different path. My current work is in creation of an inclusion scale, and seamlessly integrating inclusion into Methods courses
